THE WISDOM OF THE UPANISHADS
by Bhupendra Vora
speaker The Upanishads are a repository of ancient spiritual wisdom. The sages who compiled them were totally free from egotism and therefore had no wish to immortalise their names. The writers of most Upanishads remain nameless. These sages were enlightened beings, who were keen observers of the processes of nature and reflected deeply on metaphysical concepts. The Upanishads consequently provide a holistic view of the subjective and objective aspects of Reality. The Vedas contend that behind this world of name and form is an underlying Reality, that is unchanging, immutable and eternal. The workshop will seek to explore some fundamental teachings of the Upanishads and their relevance to our present times.

Bhupendra Vora is a former General Secretary of the Theosophical Society in East and Central Africa. He is author of a book entitled Healing the Planet.

BLACK GENESIS: THE PREHISTORIC ORIGINS OF THE PHARAOHS
by Robert Bauval
This talk is based on Robert Bauval’s forthcoming book, Black Genesis (co-authored with American physicist Thomas Brophy), in which scientific evidence shows that a 'lost prehistoric culture' in the Egyptian Sahara was the foundation of a civilization thousands of years before the pharaohs.

Robert Bauval was born in Egypt in 1948. He studied construction engineering in England and subsequently worked in the Middle East and Africa. In 1994 he wrote the best-selling The Orion Mystery followed by Keeper of Genesis - both have been translated into more than 20 languages.

ETHICS AND MORALITY: FOUNDATIONS OF A JUST SOCIETY
by Bhupendra Vora
speaker The ancient Greek philosophers talked about a just society, where men lived nobly and the state governed equitably, with the welfare of its citizens as the cardinal principle. Harmony and happiness, taught the Stoics, are achieved by striving for virtue rather then pleasure. In modern times Mahatma Gandhi carried such a vision for a just society, a 'Ram Rajya' in which there was justice for all and absence of want. The modern welfare state was supposed to achieve a just and equitable society. Can such a society be realized?

LEVITATION & ANTI-GRAVITY (Theory only!)
by David Harvey
speaker Have you considered how the giant stone blocks of Baalbek, the Pyramids and Stonehenge were lifted? And how some human beings, saintly and otherwise, levitate themselves? This lecture explores a range of mechanisms that might work, from counter-acting, shielding, nullifying or sidestepping gravity, and looking at the anomalies and red herrings. The ‘Navaz, or ‘Night-side of Nature’ forces are also considered.

AWAKENING TO OUR TRUE REALITY
by Liz Villani

THE PRIMAL POWER OF SYMBOLS
by Tim Wyatt
speaker Words may communicate to our conscious minds but there is a much more potent force acting on the less accessible parts of our consciousness. In this lecture Tim Wyatt reveals how symbols represent a universal and primordial language which works powerfully on a subconscious level. The sign of the cross of the archetype of the hero have ancient significance. In the modern world the symbols inherent in brands and trademarks have the power to manipulate our behaviour - as do all symbols.

Tim Wyatt is an author, freelance writer and lecturer who has been exploring mysticism since the 1970s.

GURDJIEFF’S FOURTH WAY & THE MASTERS OF THE WISDOM
by Joseph McKeaney
At the beginning of the 20th century an unusually powerful man called G. I. Gurdjieff brought a unique esoteric teaching to the West. Gurdjieff introduced a ‘Way’ which he said originated in pre-pharonic Egypt; a teaching capable of transforming Being in a man or woman. He called it 'The Fourth Way'. This workshop will cover key elements of the Fourth Way teaching and Gurdjieff’s mission to the West. We will consider conditioning and social programming in modern man; examine Man's true inner-psychology.
(Essence, Personality and The False-Ego) and outline the four powers of the Sphinx or 'the four powers of Essence in Man’. The day will also focus on Cosmic laws governing man's life on Earth and The Principle of Knowledge & Being. The day will open with a dynamic group meditation, to connect all present in the spirit of friendship, learning and harmony.

Joseph McKeaney is a fully qualified holistic therapist and counselor, with many years experience as a workshop facilitator in Britain and abroad.

EXPLORING TIME AND ETERNITY
by Julian David
What was there before the Big Bang? The very idea of ‘before’ is meaningless as there was no time. What is it beyond the curved boundary of space? And what meaning can the notion of ‘beyond’ have when there is no space? It does not exist. It is just the Nothing. But it is a very strange sort of Nothing since everything that is comes out of it.

Julian David trained as a Jungian analyst at the Jung Institute of Zurich. He practises in Devon and is Chairman of the C. G. Jung Analytical Club, London.

SOULMATES: A DREAM COME TRUE OR YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE?
by Judy Hall
speaker Many people are looking for their soul mate and expect to be blissfully happy when they find one. But, sadly, they seem doomed to disappointment. So why are some soul mate relationships such a trial? Your soul mate is rarely someone new to you and your birth charts map the connections. Past life relationships can carry over into the present life and give rise to a soul mate experience that scours our soul - also shown in the interaction between charts. Drawing on 35 years experience as a regression therapist and karmic counsellor, Judy Hall will explore - in this workshop - contracts, karmic conundrums and unfinished business that lie behind many soul mate experiences and will help us to understand why our soul mate may be an invaluable tool in our karmic learning. It will also introduce a true companion of the heart - a twin flame (a soul mate without the karma). Please bring birth charts on acetate. Suitable for beginners and experienced astrologers alike.

THEOSOPHISTS & THE POWERS LATENT IN MAN
by Leslie Price
The early Theosophists were pioneers in attempts to develop higher forces in humanity, inspired by both eastern and western imitates. Some of the most important research was carried out in Britain by such workers as William Crookes, Dr and Mrs Bendit and Arthur Ellison. Where are the centres of such research today?

VISIONS & PROPHECIES
by Eric McGough
speaker The End Times, 2012, Armageddon, Resurrection, Return of the Christ, the New Jerusalem, the Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Can the future be predicted accurately? What can we make of the Book of Revelation or the prophesies of Nostradamus? Some would have it that there is only 'now' - no past or future - but H. P. Blavatsky tells us that 'now' is an illusion and that all is memory!

Eric McGough is National President of the Theosophical Society in England. He is also author of the audio course, Life after Life, and is a conscious explorer of the inner planes.

THE MYSTERY OF ME
by Derek Thorne
speaker What is this thing we call me? It seems so familiar but can it be defined. The only point of reference we know is our thoughts, feelings, sensations and perceptions but to whom are they occurring, who knows these things? This question is the most ancient and pressing of all. Enquiring deeply into it leads to the realisation of our true essential and spiritual nature. The art of Jnana Yoga provides a direct and compelling path. Derek Thorne will convey this instruction and provide a rare opportunity to hear and receive authentic and powerful teaching.

Derek Thorne is a teacher trainer for the British Wheel of Yoga and is spiritual director of the YogaLiving Community ashram.

IS THIS HEAVEN?
by Derek Thorne
Heaven and hell is in the mind. No doubt this is true yet irrespective of the joys and freedom of a liberated mind there is still a physical reality to be experienced and endured; birth, ageing, decay and death and all the stages in between. The world does not provide a carefree passage. So what is this life for? It is for engagement, an encounter with destiny. Either embrace it or reject it, it must be faced. The key question is who faces it? The answer to this is indeed heaven. The practices of Jnana Yoga reveal that heaven.

CAN A PERSON EXPERIENCE GOD?
