| THE WISDOM OF THE UPANISHADS 19 September 2010 Sunday 14:00 - 16:30 Bhupendra Vora
The Upanishads are a repository of ancient spiritual wisdom. The sages who compiled them were totally free from egotism and therefore had no wish to immortalise their names. The writers of most Upanishads remain nameless. These sages were enlightened beings, who were keen observers of the processes of nature and reflected deeply on metaphysical concepts. The Upanishads consequently provide a holistic view of the subjective and objective aspects of Reality. The Vedas contend that behind this world of name and form is an underlying Reality, that is unchanging, immutable and eternal. The workshop will seek to explore some fundamental teachings of the Upanishads and their relevance to our present times.Bhupendra Vora is a former General Secretary of the Theosophical Society in East and Central Africa. He is author of a book entitled Healing the Planet. Arranged by The Theosophical Society in England. £15, £10 concessions, £7 members of the Theosophical Society |

| BLACK GENESIS: THE PREHISTORIC ORIGINS OF THE PHARAOHS 19 September 2010 Sunday 18:00 - 19:30 Robert Bauval This talk is based on Robert Bauval’s forthcoming book, Black Genesis (co-authored with American physicist Thomas Brophy), in which scientific evidence shows that a 'lost prehistoric culture' in the Egyptian Sahara was the foundation of a civilization thousands of years before the pharaohs. Robert Bauval was born in Egypt in 1948. He studied construction engineering in England and subsequently worked in the Middle East and Africa. In 1994 he wrote the best-selling The Orion Mystery followed by Keeper of Genesis - both have been translated into more than 20 languages. Arranged by The Foundation for Theosophical Studies. £7, £5 concessions |
